Premier League

The Premier League is the top tier of professional football (soccer) in England. Established in 1992, it replaced the Football League First Division as the highest level of competition in English football. The Premier League consists of 20 teams that compete annually, with each team playing 38 matches in a season, facing every other team twice—once at home and once away. The league operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the English Football League (EFL) Championship, meaning the lowest-performing teams in the Premier League are relegated to the Championship, while the highest-performing teams from the Championship are promoted to the Premier League. The league is known for its high quality of play, large global audience, and financial strength, attracting top players and managers from around the world. The team with the most points at the end of the season is crowned the champion. The Premier League is also renowned for its competitiveness, as various clubs have won the title since its inception.
